Original Stained Glass Design
Original stained glass design transforms a room like nothing else can. Depending on the light and the time of day, it might have a muted glow or a sparkly brilliance.
For a stained glass window to be considered old, it must have been in place for at least a hundred years. There are stained glass windows still in their original settings that were old when Galileo first pointed a telescope at the sky.
The Arts & Crafts Movement in Europe and America originated with William Morris in England. Morris countered the influence of the machine age of the late 19th and early 20th centuries by stressing the importance of handcrafted items in interior design. Decorative windows of this age are often linear, stylized designs in colorful, opalescent glass which reveal an understated elegance. In Scotland, architect, Charles Rennie Mackintosh, contributed to the Arts & Crafts movement with his distinct concepts in interior design. He is known for his unique decorative schemes in leaded glass and ornate metalwork, with muted solid colors.
