Stained Glass Art
The quality of stained glass art produced today is often equal to the quality of stained glass windows found in European cathedrals built in previous centuries.
The art of stained glass is alive and well in the 21st century and many American studios are producing stained glass windows that are as excellent as those seen in the cathedrals and churches of Europe. They are creating stained glass windows which are custom tailored to the clients' desires and needs.
It is not true that plastic has replaced stained glass. The truth is that no stained glass medium offers the beauty, affordability and durability of glass. While the initial outlay for an imitation window is less, it will have to be replaced much sooner. Whereas the color in glass will not fade in sunlight, colored plastic will fade rapidly. Also, plastic cannot withstand the normal abrasion that a window must face every day from sand and grit that is blown against it by wind. Real stained glass windows are impervious to all but the most damaging high winds.
