Stained Glass Original Pattern
Stained glass original pattern windows are designed to complement unique residential spaces as well as add architectural flair to commercial and governmental buildings.
When selecting antique leaded windows, one should closely examine the condition of the leading. For example, lead begins to deteriorate after 100 years or so. Another sign of old age is pitting in the lead. A sign that panes of glass have been replaced is revealed when they do not match surrounding panes. Check the leading for shine or for a dark patina. Is the frame original or has it been replaced?
The National Ornamental Glass Manufacturer's Association (now known as the Stained Glass Association of America) was formed in 1903. In 1909 they created the Official Catalogue of stained glass designs, which features simple, standardized windows with few embellishments, such as fancy glass or jewels. The public was losing interest in decorative windows at the time and it was difficult to find truly original designs in art glass.
